Ignite Sault brings together an inspiring and unexpected blend of thinkers from business, art, technology, government and academia. All with ideas. And all willing to share them. Be a part of it: learn more, get tickets.

Are you interested in raising the collective IQ or building connections and getting more involved in your local community?  Then Ignite wants YOU!

It’s not often you get to stand up and share your passion with a very forgiving audience who actually *wants* to hear your idea. And don’t worry, for some of you this may be the first time in a long time presenting and standing up in front of public crowd but there is no reason to shy or nervous.  This isn’t a contest and nobody is going to be judging you.  You’ll meet many new friends and supporters along the way and have a chance to hear other really interesting ideas presented by people just like *you*!

Do you have something you are passionate about (or passionate against) that you would like to share with the rest of the community?  We would love to hear about it!  But as the Ignite motto goes you will only have 5 minutes so you’ll have to “Enlighten us, but make it quick.” :-) And don’t stress out, you’ll have plenty of time to practice and we’ll help you along the way.

So, what are you waiting for?!  You can submit your proposal right here! There is no need to think exactly about how you are going to present or even about the format just yet.  We just want to secure *your* idea and once you submit your proposal the Ignite team will be in touch with you and let you know all the details and even help you prepare and practice your presentation.

You only have until Dec 31st to secure your idea so think about it quick and submit your prososal TODAY!.

Thank you from the Ignite crew,

- Gerry, Tom, Nathan, Jason, Trevor

Fashion contest8 months. Yes, it’s been that long since the last Ignite. The good news is the wait is almost over.

Over 100 people came to the last Ignite event, packing the main floor of the Grand. The night was magical, the intimacy of the Grand and the big screen making it the perfect home for Ignite.

There was the hilarious fashion team competition that got things started, followed by a series of inspiring talks that kept people talking well after the event was done. Ignite Karaoke made its return as well, with 3 brave souls doing their best to make a story out of random slides.

When: Thursday, February 10

Global Phenomenon

We’ll be making more announcements about Ignite Sault 4 over the coming weeks. This one will be the best yet, with a few new surprises and twists. One we can share now is that we’ll be a part of Global Ignite Week. From February 7-11, over 100 cities will host community-powered Ignite events attended by upwards of 12,000 technologists, entrepreneurs, DIYers, and creative professionals on at least six continents. Participating cities include Seattle, Boston, Phoenix, Mumbai, Manila, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Bristol, Sydney, and Wellington.

As an early supporter, we want to thank you for your interest and participation in past events. We couldn’t have got Ignite Sault going without you. It’s tough in the beginning to get new ideas off the ground, and we’re grateful you were there for us.

As Ignite grows, we hope you will continue to lend your support. Help us spread the word. Tell your friends about Ignite. Tweet it. Talk about it on Facebook. Plan to attend Ignite 4.

Thank you from the Ignite crew,

- Gerry, Tom, Nathan, Jason, Trevor

Local fashion guru Marla Guzzo answers the age old question “Is Sault Ste. Marie Fashionable?” in her hilarious yet insightful Ignite Sault talk.

Tim Kelly did his Ignite talk on Chaos Theory. It’s a complicated topic on its own, let alone to explain in 5 minutes. Tim has a personal interest in Chaos Theory and he pulled it off remarkably.

We hope everybody is enjoying their summer and apologize for the delay in posting Ignite 3′s presentations. Hopefully we can get them all up here so you can take a look in between your summer trips to camp.

Luc Duchesne has participated in Ignite Sault since the beginning. He presented the first ever Ignite Sault talk at Ignite Sault 1 back in June 2009 and keeps coming back for more. His talks are always a hit, always funny and always entertaining. In Random Acts of Humour Luc deconstructs things from every day life (where’s the popcorn in popcorn chicken?) resulting in many laughs. Just listen to the track on the video, everybody was bursting with laughter!

Another note on Luc, he really set the tone at Ignite Sault 3 when he warmed up the crowd right before the first speaker went up. He had every audience member practice their cheering skills so that each speaker finished with a lot of supportive cheers. What energy this brought to the room!
